2013 Junior Angler - Season 9 - presented by the touring company
One upon a summer's night in 2005 several women planned a Girls Night Out and left the kids with their husbands. Three of the men wanted nothing to do with a house full of screaming young kids, so the cooler was packed, bait bought, and boats floated. Three dads, one uncle, and six kids ranging from 3 to 7 set sail to the D Dot Ranch Creek and caught a fish. After thirty minutes of fishing, thirty minutes cooking the catch, and four hours emptying the cooler on a dock at the south end of Tideview Drive a tradition was born like no other in the Isle of Palms, the Junior Angler Summer Fishing Series. Four Thursdays every summer Dads and kids of all ages embark for an evening of fishing and friendship. Now in it's 9th season, the Junior Angler has over 50 members and growing. How Does It Work?
All you need to do is sign up and pay the Registration Fee on the Registration Page. Your registration fee is good for all four events. You can attend one or all for the same costs. We will send out e-mails the week before each event to see who is attending. For your registration fee you will receive a fantastic t-shirt, bait, adult & kid friendly beverages, and snacks while fishing. We will cook whatever we catch when returning to the dock and usually have some food donated by an area restaurant.
There are four events this summer that all are fundraisers for Are You In, Inc., which is a not for profit 501(c)3 corporation with the goal of promoting healthy living and fun with friends and family while supporting charities and organizaitons that lead to a better way of life for those who need it. Over the past two years we have raised over $1,000 and made donations to Family Promise of Jacksonville, The Jay Fund, The Donovan Darius Foundation, and the Kids Win Fishing Tournament. What About Boats?
The Junior Angler relies completely of an all volunteer armada. We will be looking for volunteers to bring boats to each event and sending out requests the week prior to each one. If you are selected to captain your vessel you will also need to bring a cooler with ice for beverages and a bucket for bait.
